Disneyland 48 years ago, August 1962: Pt. 3
Our trip back August 1962 ends today, starting with a few images of Nature’s Wonderland. The Mine Train is meandering by Rainbow Ridge on its way to The Living Desert.
In Adventureland, The Irrawaddi Woman has its own cargo of guests, ready to explore the wilds of the Nile.
Will this boat ever be heard from again? Only the Skipper knows.
This poor baby elephant looks might lonely!
Thanks for joining me on my trip back to 1962.
Here’s an extra bonus for today; Daveland Blog Reader and frequent commenter, JG, saw my post on the Tomorrowland Spaceman and remembered a shot he had that showed the man of the future underneath the PeopleMover track. Here’s the photo from February 1968.

Love the "man of the future" pic - how retro fun is that!
Fantastic Nature's Wonderland pics!
There are some publicity shots out there of both the Spaceman and a Spacewoman (in a miniskirt) hanging out in the 1967 Tomorrowland.
Great photos!!!
In the first photo, you can clearly see the trail for the pack mules veering to the left, while the Mine Train goes to the right, through the tunnel.
2nd Nature's Wonderland pic is postcard worthy - I'm so bummed I never road this attraction, didn't even know it was there till it was too late!
Awesome Spaceman pic, love the "D" on his sleeve!
Many thanks to JG for sharing that great photo of the space man. He's very 50's, naturally. Did he survive long as a walk around in 60's Tomorrowland?
I have not seen too many photos of the Spaceman from New Tomorrowland. I am guessing he didn't last too long into the revised park.
Ha! I'm in Tomorrowland again. How cool is that?
That is a vivid memory.
Thanks Dave.
