City Hall

In most towns of yesteryear, The City Hall and Town Square are the heart of those communities. At Disneyland, the same holds true. First time guests and others who need information know that they can stop by City Hall and get most of their questions answered. This May 1960 shot of City Hall also includes a zoom-in shot of the Souvenir/Info Kiosk (long gone) and a horse-drawn carriage (also long gone from Town Square).

I can think of no better image of City Hall than this shot of its founder, positively beaming as he sits nearby:

Today, City Hall is still a vibrant place to get a birthday message, get information, and talk to a welcoming cast member to help make your visit to Disneyland a little brighter.

There are also plenty of things to see while you are waiting to be helped, including this Tencennial certificate from the county of Los Angeles:

There's even a courtesy phone from which you can call your Disneyland Resort hotel:

This is one cast member you might want to avoid at City Hall if you need help:

Did you know, that when Harper Goff drew the original design of City Hall, he modeled it after his hometown court house in Fort Collins, Colorado. The original court house no longer exist, but you can see a photo of it at the Fort Collins Museum. Another thing is when Main Street was being designed they used photos of Walts hometown of Marceline, Missouri and Harpers Hometown of Fort Collins, Colorado as inspiration. To this day you can walk down parts of Old Town Fort Collins and see resemblances of Disneylands, Main Street, USA.

Very nice. It just occurred to me that I don't think I've ever set foot inside City Hall! "Next time"...

I've often wondered why the Queen is even a character...she is so unpleasant, who would want her picture? Much less at the front gate, which is where I have always seen her.

Thanks for this post.
