Adventureland & Tiki Room WED shots

Using two 1980’s WED photos as the source for this post, I have expanded it to a then vs. now post. For the Adventureland entrance, here’s a shot from July 18, 1955.

Moving up the timeline to December 1968, the addition of The Tiki Room and the maturing of the landscape makes this area seem much more lush and tropical:

Not a whole lot of changes in the 1980's:

By October 2006, the vegetation is still full and lush, but the signage and thematic elements look more manufactured and less hand-crafted:

Over at the Enchanted Tiki Room, Tangaroa Ru is shown circa 1980’s:

And about 30 years later in February 2006 with some slight changes to the color palette visible:

Excellent post!! Am I weird or does anyone else LOVE the 1955 Adventureland?

It looks like the modern phone booth just beyond the bathrooms was still there in that '80's shot. I don't remember seeing it back then....maybe by then that area was "backstage" and there was an employee gate that was left open giving us a view of it.

Well Connie - I don't know about the weird part, but I do agree that the original Adventureland seemed to have more...Adventure! It's a little too "tamed" and manicured now.

Was the Tiki Room really that late? I thought it was earlier.

Love it just the same.
