Miscellaneous Stuff

Coming off of the Disneyland Half Marathon and taking my usual 300+ photos at the park, as well as preparing for another exhibit (deadline: this Friday), you can expect a hodge-podge this week. First hodge-podge shot is of the Strawhatters, playing along the banks of the Rivers of America in the bandstand that was torn out when New Orleans Square was constructed. Next up is a shot from an Easter Parade on Main Street, 1956, showcasing a number of early automobiles. In the close-up view, you can see that the car on the right is a 1912 Buick; however, the little girl sitting on the curb is not impressed at all. She wants to ride Dumbo, not look at stupid old cars!

For more modern transportation, Disneyland fans are excited to see the new Monorails being tested. Here is the Mark 7 Monorail Blue, finally being put on the tracks and tested for use.

See more vintage & current Disneyland photos at my regular website. “Nightmare Before Christmas” fans—this Tim Burton classic is now available on Blu-ray, and also features a way cool tour of the Haunted Mansion (NBC version).

The little girl clearly is suffering from a hangover!

Now, neat pics of the new Monorail... the ones at WDW will eventually need to be replaced, I wonder if they will make them look more like these?

Love the photos, as always. How did the marathon go?

Karen - Thanks for asking! The half marathon was much better than last year's, thanks to lower temperatures. I was 6 minutes over my goal time, but still 9 minutes under last year's time. Looks like I'll be doing it again in ’09!
