1955 Castle

From the same batch of 1955 slides comes this shot taken from the path to Adventureland showing the castle, but also showing the “young” landscaping in front of the Frontierland gates. And on a totally different subject, here is a scan from a 1960’s snapshot, showing the front of the Tiki Room, which appears to be under construction as a row of posters is blocking the entrance. Any of you experts able to narrow down the year of this photo?

nice ones!

on the tiki room...that row of posters is actually along the back wall of the lanai. they were there for a while.

the intersting thing is that the posters are a new variation with what looks to be a price list on it.

there is also no "United Airlines" logos to be seen so i'd put this at summer 1963 right after it opened.

the really weird thing is that the 'tiki cupola' adornment is missing on top of the juice bar roof. now i thought that went back to the beginning. a friend of mine actually owns it, so i'm always looking for it in vintage shots....

thanks for runing my life with yet ANOTHER poster i don't have!!!!

That castle photo is a beauty! Wow, can that really be a poster varation in the Tiki Room photo?!! It seems odd that they would silk-screen a price list directly onto the posters, but ya never know...

well it was for the extra admission price that one had to pay for the tiki room in the early years...

you must know that story?

perkypickle, I assume that you mean that you had to pay a separate admission for the Tiki Room for a while? Maybe pre-United Airlines...?

I have a few Tiki Room exteriors, but I'm not sure what you mean by the "tiki cupola"...I'd take a look to see if it was in them.
