Carefree Christmas 1959

While this group may not exactly look carefree, they ARE posing by a Christmas tree inside the INA Carefree Corner at the end of Main Street U.S.A. For any doubters, I have zoomed in and reversed the window!

Here's another December 1959 shot of our not-so-carefree gang, also on Main Street U.S.A. by the Town Square Christmas Tree:

As much as I love the past, pics of people today in Disney parks seem to feature smiling people having fun. These guys look like unwilling models for the Sears catalog of ill fitting attire. Great pics of the park, though!

Man, when you have Disneyland slides, they are doozies! Really great stuff. Thanks for all of the wonderful stuff that you share, Dave.

A [flocked] Christmas tree inside Carefree Corner - pretty rare.

I don't know when American folks decided it was 'okay' to smile in photographs, but with this group, only a couple of the ladies could be bothered to do so - perhaps inspired by the Xmas spirit of Town Square. And I see the young fella in that image is sporting a reversible jacket - with the stripy-side on display.

Thanks for sharing these rare images.

Back from a week vacation and all these old shots show a slice of Americana that existed in the '50s which I can relate to. I was with my Dad a couple days ago in the Park celebrating his 95th and one could easily get run over by the crowds around the Christmas tree and down Main Street. KS
