Monkey See Monday

This 1956 image shows an organ grinder and his monkey in the Central Plaza area of Disneyland. Imagine..."live" animals at Disneyland doing things that might be unscripted. A closeup of the organ shows the name Molinari & Sons, New York.

Here's a previously posted shot of the same guy, also from 1956:

It's interesting that the organ grinder's organ features a Dutch rather than an Italian landscape painted on its side - Meindert Hobbema's 'The Avenue At Middleharnis' from the National Gallery in London. I wonder how long the organ grinder remained a feature at Disneyland.

Love that the monkey's wearing the Davy Crockett coonskin hat. Thanks, Dave.

How long was the organ grinder in Disneyland? I have a picture of my uncle with the organ grinder. I think it's from the late 50s. My uncle doesn't remember

A monkey in a coonskin cap! The only thing better would be a coon in a monkeyskin cap!
