Disneyland June 1972 Photos, Pt. 2

I am sure that The Skyway was an integral part in the success of many of the Fantasyland attractions. Imagine flying overhead, getting a birds-eye view of what was below and attempting to figure out what you'd visit first! The Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship probably increased the hunger factor of many guests who sailed overhead.

This door lead to the restaurant below deck.

Abruptly, we now cross the bridge into Frontierland. Apparently our June 1972 photographer didn't take many shots in Fantasyland.

Nature's Wonderland was one of the most popular attractions in Frontierland. The scaled-down western town of Rainbow Ridge was a good example of the wonderful detail that Imagineers put into Disneyland attractions. Each façade had an abundance of marvelous period touches that helped immerse guests into the Old West theme.

I can't say I'd be crazy about riding the temperamental Pack Mules, but I'd do it just to get closer to the Rainbow Ridge façades. I wonder if I could balance a camera while riding the Mules?

Another mine train coming back from its journey.

Last one for today shows the Columbia sailing past Cascade Peak as it heads homeward towards the Mark Twain dock.

See more vintage and current Disneyland photos on my Disneyland web pages.

I loved the Pack Mules when I was a kid. After they closed, Nature’s Wonderland wasn’t the same. The live animals here are what set it apart from the eastside of the park.

I loved the Pack Mules, too! To a small kid who'd never ridden on an animal before, that was a slightly scary thrill ride.

I was getting mad at the photographer for leaving Fantasyland so quickly, but then he headed right to Rainbow Ridge, so...all's forgiven! :)

Chicken of the Sea had moved on by this time, notice that it now says "Captain Hook's". Love this series from '72!
