A Day At The Park Circa 1958, Pt. 3

Originally I thought this first shot was taken from the Skyway, but based upon the sequencing, I am pretty sure it was taken from the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant. With a little cropping, this makes a more interesting shot; signage, Peter Pan entrance, retro fashions...SOOO much better!

Monstro looks as if he's about to take out a whole slew of guests with his chompers:

Over in Tomorrowland, there's plenty of room to breathe and admire the entrance's iconic Clock of the World:

Howzabout taking the Skyway back to Fantasyland?

Today you get a second chance to view Monstro, as well as the construction going on behind-the-scenes at the top of the frame:

Time to end this chapter as we sail safely into the Fantasyland Skyway Station:

As I scrolled down this morning, while all the pictures were both charming and took me back to an exciting innocence of 1958; nothing really overwhelmed me. Then there was the last picture in this batch. The charm of the Fantasyland terminus is just so stunning and has a warmth all its own sitting atop that little hill. For some reason, the sounds inside that structure were a true signature of the park.

Me too, that last pic...

Need to set some more time aside to leave more comments but know I'm enjoying all your pics Dave :)

What a beautiful shot of the Clock of the World, with the Hall of Chemistry behind it. The last shot of the Skyway Chalet is quite nice as well.

Wow, how the trees have grown around the Chalet.

Thank you for the tour, Dave.

Thufer - Flying into the Fantasyland Skyway station was akin to what it used to be like to land somewhere in an airplane. I still remember as a kid back in the early 70's that I always thought it was so cool to arrive at the destination and step off the plane into a new city. The Skyway was the same way...stepping out of your bucket into the Fantasyland Station had a real sense of arrival about it. But now, both air travel and the Skyway have suffered through years of neglect!

Wow, all I had to do was read Thufer's words, "the sounds inside that structure" and those memories come rushing back and I'm there again!

That Clock of the World shot is postcard worthy, Dave!

I loved ALL of the photos. WOW! That first one, is there any chance that it was taken from Dumbo?? Just curious. Wishing I could jump into any one of those pics!
