Early Disneyland, Pt. 1

Although undated, I am hazarding a guess that this batch is from 1955. Our photographer has entered the park and his first shot is Town Square. The patriotic bunting on the lightposts tells us it must be summer! Sure do miss those Keystone Kops; great atmosphere. Other than the Dapper Dans, you don’t see too many costumed characters from the past on Main Street anymore. Our Horse-Drawn Streetcar has just dropped us off at Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in Central Plaza. Things look barrren in the background; no Snow White Waterfall, no Matterhorn...what’s a guest to do?!?

Looks like Adventureland is the first choice of lands to visit; here’s the backside of the entry gate. What?!? No Dole Whip stand? That just ain’t right. Stay tuned tomorrow for more from this batch.

I love super early photos from the park, you get a certain "feel" from them that is unique.

Check out the plain old balloons in the first photo, no mouse ears!
