The New Tomorrowland
Here is the New Tomorrowland of 1967. Although it is sad to see the Clock of the World gone at the entrance, this one still has much to offer. Above the track, we see the Peoplemover, a constantly moving transportation system that was to be a key in the futuristic EPCOT that Walt originally wanted to be built. Most likely, at the time of this photo, the PeopleMover wasn’t even open yet. The Astrojets also received a makeover, and we can see them towering over the background (not blocking the front entrance as they currently do). By August, the name was changed to the Rocket Jets. Adventure Thru Inner Space would also open in August. America the Beautiful is visible on the left, and the GE logo is peering out from behind as well for the Carousel of Progress. Here is a closeup of the America the Beautiful entrance, circa August 1976:
A little deeper into Tomorrowland, you can also see the edge of the Mary Blair Tile Murals on the left, also from August 1976:

I love these pics! Look at the two people studying the signature on the mural in the third pic. I can imagine one saying, "Oh, these murals are designed by Mary Blair....."
I think that Mary Blair wasn't very well known in 1976...it took a while before she got the credit she was due. Who knows!
Love the exterior of America the Beautiful!
In that last pic of Tomorrowland, the Peoplemover covers look like they're tilted back. Did they do this for easier entry, or is that just a trick of the angle the phtoto was shot from. I don't remeber riding the People pmover as a kid and they removed it before I started going to Disneyland all the time. Great pics, thanks.
