Universal Studios

This shot is from July, 1966 and shows a riverboat on the backlot at Universal Studios. The second shot was marked Disneyland, but in actuality is probably Knotts from the 1950’s.

BONUS! Since it turns out that neither of the first 2 photos is DL related, I have tacked on this 3rd photo (wow, what a value!) from June, 1967 that shows a board behind these visitors advertising Disney’s Wonderful World of Color TV Show. Enjoy!

See more vintage and contemporary Disneyland photos at my main website.

The bottom one is definitely Knotts Berry Farm with the sign advertising Melodrama at the Bird Cage Theater. The top one may be the Cordelia K steamboat also at Knotts (actually across the street) but it is hard to tell. Tangaroa will know for sure. The top one may also be from an amusement park in Arizona that I remember going to as a kid and riding a small paddlewheel boat ride.

Hey- a bunch of us like images of Knotts and other theme parks. We are not Disneyland snobs! (By the way, thanks for the extra photo, it is a nice image.)

Arrrgh! Your images are down again! I'll try and access them later today...

I don't know what's going on with my website; ever since my webhost switched over to their new control panel, i have been plagued with downtime.

The boat is not outfitted for Park Guests, and the disrepair in the immediate area makes me think that we're looking at a movie prop, either at Universal or MGM Studios. Both had crumbling paddlewheelers in a backlot lake.

Hey Ron I think you are correct, the paddlewheeler is at Universal Studios.

Yeah - I'd say Universal on the top image - for sure not the Cordelia "K".

Man - I love that sign (no surprise) for the Wondeful World of Disney. We are seeing so much obscure stuff on these blogs!

I recollect seeing that riverboat from the GlamorTram around 1979 on the Universal Studio tour. The guide told us it was built for the James Whale version of "Show Boat", filmed at Universal City in 1936.
