Disneyland, October ’59, Pt. 6

The Skyway has dropped us off in Fantasyland today, and we will spend the entire post checking out the long-gone (but definitely not forgotten) Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant. The lovely Mermaid herself is featured in this nice closeup shot:

Polly want a Tuna Boat?

And here is the other half of the vessel:

As an extra bonus for today, here are two landscaping shots, unidentified as to their whereabouts. Experts: this is your chance to show your total geek knowledge and to impress!

See more vintage Chicken of the Sea photos at my regular website.

I'm gonna say just north and west of the hub, near the castle.

Okay, Dave, if someone nails the location of that Azalea bush you'd better have a prize ready!

I'm guessing that the first one was taken near the castle (agreeing with james), and the second one is somewhere in Frontierland. Of course, these guesses are worth what you paid for 'em!

Hi Dave:

I think both photos (Azalea and red Bottle Brush) were located between the Casa de Fritos (just off the patio) and Rainbow Ridge. Note the log railing that the guy in the strips is standing behind. (Frontierland)

Just a guess, but it looks familiar.

Great guesses - Cox - yours makes the most sense. At some point I will take the time to compare with some of my other Frontierland photos. Thanks all!

How about the walkway from Carnations to the Frontierland entrance.

Matterhorn: I thought of that, but it didn't seem like enough sunlight, and I don't remember any flowers or Bottle Brush in that area.

It's really bad when your enough of a geek to remember what bushes were around 50 years ago.

I remember when all but one of the bathroom stalls were coin operated. Ouch!
