Chicken of the Sea Bonanza

Just another quickie...my life is nothing but quickies these days. This undated 1950s shot is a unique view taken from the entrance of the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant, looking back towards the Fantasyland Skyway Station.

Although the menu is too blurry to read very easily, it is interesting to see this closeup of Captain Hook's hook...

which is still being used today, in the queue of Peter Pan's Flight:

Just for good measure, here's a 1956 shot featuring the Chicken of the Sea mermaid:

Great post today Dave. It's interesting to see the Skyway Station (Swiss chalet) with palm trees directly in front of it. It's amazing to me to know now how well, and quickly (quickie) the pines tress grew in around it.

Appreciate the connection you made between the Chicken of the Sea sign and the Peter Pan Attraction exit. Well done sir! I don't think I've ever put the two together (and now that I have... I cannot un-see it).

Oh... and I know you can't see the menu do you happen to know what the "Free Exhibit" was on board the ship? Just wondering.

Always your pal,

What a crazy detail they saved and repurposed!! I'll have to check it out next time I ride Peter Pan!

Likewise, never noticed the hand-hook before.

Fun post, Dave. Don't worry about being in a hurry. Sometimes the little details don't take long to point out.

I'm grateful you highlighted the hook before, and I took my own photo of it on my last trip. It's nice that something survived of the old attraction.

I'm also curious what that special exhibit might have been, I only remember an aquarium inside behind the food queue and the parrots outside. This looks like before the grotto construction.

I don't know that there really was an exhibit other than Paco the Parrot and the main deck where you could "steer" the ship. I believe the sign was just alerting you that you could enter the ship for "Free" without using one of your tickets.
