Raquel at the Chateau

If you have read this blog for any period of time then you are familiar with my fascination for the Chateau Marmont hotel. How could I pass up three negative frames from 1970 that show Raquel Welch and Rex Reed filming there for the cult turkey 'Myra Breckenridge'?

A closeup of the photo on the wall:

One way I identified this as the Chateau and not a Soundstage set was through the distinctive window hardware...

Which is still there today.

The room they filmed in is room 64, aka the Howard Hughes penthouse. Here's how it looks today:

More Chateau Marmont photos at my main website.

I still have yet to watch the film "Myra Breckinridge". Is it good on a "it's so bad it's good" level? Or is it just plain bad?

Thanks, Dave.

Ken - It is probably one of the wackiest movies I have ever seen. Raquel is so over the top; Rex is so positively awful; and Mae West…wow….you must see to believe.

This is awesome, thanks for sharing. I too have a fascination/love for this place. I mentioned/lined to you in my blog about movies set in the Chateau. I hope that is OK, and feel free to add to the list :-) http://www.winetravelandsong.com/2018/03/20/chateau-marmont-movies/

Hey Jamie - Today's post is for you! Also - in La La Land, the Chateau was only used for exteriors. Not sure why but they used another location for the interior room.
