Bert Stern took some amazing photos of Marilyn during his last sitting with her. These two paintings, inspired by those sessions, were done about 10 years apart. The first painting came out okay, but looking at it now it seems a little rough; I am much happier with my more recent incarnation. It’s a little more subtle; kind of like comparing Hustler to Playboy; or something like that.
