Twiggy in Color!

Years ago I scored a number of vintage black and white negatives from supermodel Twiggy's April 1967 visit to Disneyland. Recently, I acquired a few color slides documenting the same trip. This first shot appears to be in Adventureland. Twiggy is surrounded by her entourage, including boyfriend Justin de Villeneuve.



Judging by the expression on her face, I would say that the Pack Mules were not a favorite.



This shot of her with Goofy is one of the few that shows her out and out laughing. What a shame it's so blurred!

I guess she was allowed some popcorn. Here she is devouring a box aboard the Columbia.

Twiggy and the hat

I recently found yet another photo to add to my collection documenting super-model Twiggy's April 27, 1967 visit to Disneyland. From the publicity blurb:

"Even in the carefree, relaxed hours of Twiggy's tour of Disneyland, the little English girl loses none of her chic. Her tour of this country, her reactions, and our reactions to her, are part of TWIGGY: WHY?, full-hour examination of this phenomenon of our time to be seen Friday, June 23rd, at _____ pm., in color, on Channel _____ and the ABC Television Network."

Here are some of my other favorites from this collection. Even super-models ride mules.



Imagine being a super-model at the Plaza Inn, and all you could have on your plate was a doily. Oh the torture.

Escaping her entourage, she sneaks in an ice cream bar and prays that it doesn't go to her hips.

Twiggy at Disneyland, April 1967, Pt. 6

Twiggy is at the Plaza Inn today, and as one would expect from a supermodel, there’s nothing to eat for her. Alternating between happy and pensive, Twiggy looks a little bored overall with the proceedings.







Over at the Castle, Twiggy is hanging out with Goofy and Pluto. It does seem a little strange that Mickey is nowhere to be found in any of these photos.

Twiggy at Disneyland, April 1967, Pt. 5

In shots #1 & #2 from my Twiggy series, she is seen "steering" the Columbia, with the Pirates of the Caribbean building behind her.



Although a little blurry, these next three shots over in Fantasyland are some of my favorite, as they are probably the closest poor Twiggy got to a spontaneously happy moment during her day of being filmed at the park.

Twiggy at Disneyland, April 1967, Pt. 2

The 1960’s Supermodel Twiggy is back today, this time taking a trip down Main Street towards Town Square on the Horse-Drawn Streetcar. If any shots would draw Amazon Belle out of hiding, it would have to be these.









Look closely at Justin’s Mickey Mouse button in this shot; you can see that it is changing to say “I Love Disneyland.” Yup, two buttons for the price of one.



Even bouffanted mothers of the 60’s wanted Twiggy’s autograph!
