November 1959: In Living Color, BONUS 2!

It’s the big finish...really, I mean it! Back in Fantasyland, a very shadowed shot of the Carrousel, followed by 4 images from Storybook Land. The first is of Scarf-gal & Monstro, then two focusing on the Cinderella/Tremaine area, and the fourth from Pinocchio and Gepetto’s Village.

Now it’s REALLY time to say goodby to Scarf-gal. Thanks for the memories, and here’s a dusky exit shot to part with:

The Devlin Collection: Storybook Land 2

The Devlins still have a few photos up their sleeves from Fantasyland, and the first one is from the area below Cinderella’s Castle, June 1969. Here is a contemporary shot for comparison; other than the color scheme, this area seems virtually untouched.

From the 1950’s, we have this Devlin shot of Pinocchio’s village:

Flash forward to the Devlin's trip in 1969; it is also interesting to compare the Skyway overhead and the change of bucket design.

Compare to 2004:

One more Storybook shot from this collection is also from Pinocchio’s Village, circa 1950’s. No Skyway floating overhead, but Casey Junior instead:

...and the comparison shot from 2006; bright accent colors and fewer painted details:

Disneyland, October 1966 Pt. 4 & Cruella Cels

It’s Fantasyland Pt. 2 in this October 1966 series, and of course, a photo of the Castle is extremely appropriate. By now, the Disney Family Crest is visible above the entrance. Back in our Square Skyway Buckets, we see Storybook Land; Monstro is about to swallow up another boatload of guests as the Yellow Monorail appears in the distance. Admittedly, it is a little strange to see the Fantasy of Storybook Land with ultra-sleek Monorail so close by.

As we swoop in to view the rest of the Storybook sights, we see the entrance landscaping as well as a nice view of Casey Jr. and the Cinderella Castle:

3 more Storybook shots show Toad Hall (before it was unceremoniously moved to a less prominent piece of real estate courtesy of Aladdin), the Windmills, and Pinocchio’s Village:

A trip to Fantasyland wouldn’t be complete without a few characters shots, so here are Snow White & one of her Dwarves, who appears to be looking for a handout. As always, Snow White’s hair changes again to somewhat reflect the times:

As a bonus for today, here are 5 animation cels of Cruella de Vil from the collection of Alice Davis...with the cigarette intact:

Tomorrow, there’ll be more Fantasyland views, October 1966.

Alice & Castle Medley

Today is an odds and ends medley; one I may have posted but I couldn’t find it, so in case it’s a rerun, my apologies (with nearly 400 entries, it can be difficult to remember). First picture is from August 3, 1959 showing Alice’s Dark Ride...in the light portion of the ride. Just barely making it into the shot on the left are one of the vintage round Skyway buckets. Shot #2 is an undated view of the Teacups, featuring my favorite cat-eye style sunglasses.

Snow White’s Wishing Well, circa June 1964:

Here’s one of the Castle from August, 1958; I have also included a detailed closeup of the Gepetto’s Workshop sign.

Last one for today is a nice view of the castle from October 1956:

For Cox Pilot, here’s a detail of the March 1964 Town Square Shot:
