The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan is famous for being the location of the central love story in 1980’s “Somewhere in Time.” And yet, this National Historic Landmark has been around since 1887, catering to guests who are happy to be on island that does not allow cars and is closed during the winter months. Today’s post features a number of vintage views from 1951 of this destination that is still at the top of my bucket list.

The midwest version of Catalina Island. I really need to make this happen.

I assume summoning an Uber involves a bugle or flaregun. Exact same thought about those front-seater bikes. I used to think it was risky when I saw someone on a bicycle with a pet in the basket. I'm pretty sure using your betrothed as an airbag would end a relationship or two. Still, awesome shots of the hotel and island. Christopher Reeve at his best.
