Lurking in the Bushes, July 1960

It’s time to show off my newest acquisition in the Scary Mickey/Minnie collection. Yes, these two lurking in the bushes by the Main Street Train Station at Disneyland would scare the s$%t out of most people. Especially Minnie, with her hands wrapped around the railing and her nose perched on top of it.

In case you crave more (you know you do, dahling!), here’s Mickey circa March 1960:

Undated in the 1960’s. He’s sucking the life out of this guest while tightly holding her hand.

Still, not quite as scary as Mickey and Minnie from January 1959.

Hope you enjoyed this morning’s blog post. More of a jolt than a cup of java!

The '59 Mickey and Minnie belong on the cover of an Oingo Boingo album.

Holy Toledo....the 1959 mice are ready to rumble. The 1960 ones have been through reconditioning. Considering the park's technical achievements by '60 (Mine Train, Submarines etc.) it's a wonder it took them so long to get the mice right. They still hadn't managed to by the 1962 "Forty Pounds of Trouble".

The Minnie next to the hand holding Mickey seems to be saying in a slow, monotone way..."Hi...I'm Minnie...I like your dress...can I touch your hair"?

I learned that the 1955 character costumes had been rented from "Ice Capades" --- do you suppose those 1959 costumes also were rented, or did Walt officially sign off on those greyiah monsters? Inquiring minds want to know.
