Lights! Camera! Election!

The opening reception at World of Wonder for their most recent show, “Lights! Camera! Election!” was a blast. Here are some pics from it. I was pretty stoked to see my Samantha painting sitting in the front window. I have also included some of the way cool pieces from the other artists as well.

A Condoleezza Rice portrait...made out of rice. How cool is that?

Santino Rice from my new fave series, Project Runway (Season 2) was also at the reception.

Vote Samantha!

Call me crazy, but at the last minute the muses called me and I decided to do another painting for tonight’s reception/gallery showing at World of Wonder. If you want to board the crazy train and see where the inspiration came from, then read on. Last Sunday night, I was celebrating finishing my Palin/Clinton painting and was able to actually eat dinner and watch a little TV. I popped in an episode of "Mad Men." One of the main characters also had a guest stint on "Sex and the City" as a politician who dated Carrie. My memory banks kicked into gear and I remembered Samantha discussing with the ladies about the country running better with a good looking man in the White House. VoilĂ . Whatever Happened to Baby Sarah, pt. 3

More progress, and actually adding a color other than black (as long as you can count gray!). World of Wonder is at it again, this time, with an exhibit entitled "HOLLYWOOD D.C: LIGHTS... CAMERA... ELECTION!" With the fine line between celebrity and politics, WOW thought they’d put together an exhibit highlighting some of the wacky possibilities as the two categories blend together. Opening night is October 23rd. Stay tuned! To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

Whatever Happened to Baby Sarah, pt. 1

A few more surprises to come as the paint continues to hit the canvas. This one is 24"x36", acryclic. Stay tuned! To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

Dial M for Madonna: World of Wonder Opening

Although I used to exhibit on a VERY frequent basis when I lived in Indiana, ever since I moved to California 9 years ago, my output of art has slowed down to a trickle. Too many other distractions. So, it was awesome to be contacted by the World of Wonder Gallery in Hollywood about having a few of my pieces in their exhibit, "Dial M for Madonna,” from 5/23-6/23 (6650 Hollywood Blvd., corner of Hollywood Blvd. & Cherokee). This is the kind of thing I need more of to get my ass in gear and back to the canvas with the paints. Here are some photos from opening night:

A cuff from Madge’s Drowned World Tour:

And the installation wouldn’t have been complete with M’s videos being shown on the wall:

Ru Paul and Norman Kopi were also on hand:

Everyone seemed to be having lots of fun, socializing, voguing, and sucking down their Kabbalah water:

Many thanks to Steven Corfe for contacting me to part of this exhibit. To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

The Hitchhiker Pt. 7: DONE!

A few days away was a good thing. I THINK I am happy with the result...it will take a few days for some perspective. However, it’s going up to Hollywood today for the exhibit, so as the famous line goes, "It is what it is." My thought on leaving all the trees, lights, and buildings out of the background was that I didn’t want anything to detract from Madge; thus the simple colors. The Hitchhiker Pt. 6: The Finish Line

It’s almost there; a little more work on the hair. As for the background, it seems to be missing something...it just isn’t quite right. Maybe a few days away will help me come back and zoom down the home stretch. To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

The Hitchhiker Pt. 5: No Rushing

I REALLY wanted this done so that I could take it up to LA, but there is just too much I want to do with it to rush it through. A few more days... To see more of my art, visit my regular website.

The Hitchhiker Pt. 3: The "Oh S&*T" Moment

Whenever I do a painting under deadline, I usually come to what I call the “Oh S&*t” moment when I realize that I have a lot still to do. I have reached that point on this one. To see more of my art, visit my regular website.
