More Janet Leigh and kids at Disneyland, 1962

Today I am sharing a few new additions to my Janet Leigh at Disneyland circa 1962 collection. Poor little Jamie Lee appears to be suspicious of the little boy in the foreground. Janet is not really paying attention to the storm brewing.

Will a smooch from mom help?

My eye instead went directly to the cool hat this young gent is wearing:

He can be seen in all his retro glory in this shot, too:

…and this one:

Check out the ticket book and camera clutched in his left hand:

Is it time to go home yet? Jamie looks like she could be ready.

A lovely portrait of Janet and Jamie, with Kelly in the foreground:

The negatives obviously have no date/time stamp, but I would guess that by the time Janet and the girls took a ride on Nature’s Wonderland, judging by the look on her face, mama needed a cig.

Yup…let’s get those kids on the Monorail and take them back to the hotel!

More Janet Leigh at Disneyland, 1962

Actress Janet Leigh is in Disneyland’s Town Square, circa 1962, with daughters Kelly and Jamie Lee Curtis. Those Mickey Mouse sunglasses on Jamie Lee are the bomb;

On the right it looks like a Keppy Kap, but the design is different from the original ones sold at the Park. How about that Disneyland Guidebook? Shown in living color below:

I love the little girl munching on her popcorn; in the previous shot, she is giving the death-look to her companion: “Touch my popcorn and die!”

Meanwhile, Jamie Lee is focused on the Mickey Mouse Disneyland balloon:

Janet Leigh: What to Do?

In 1962, Janet Leigh took her two daughters (Jamie Lee and Kelly) to Disneyland while her then-husband, Tony Curtis, was filming “Forty Pounds of Trouble” at the Park. In photo #1, she seems to be having a dilemma with Kelly, who is crying buckets. Could she be protesting a ride on the Matterhorn? You can see the wheels spinning in Janet’s head…does she force screaming Kelly to go on the ride or allow her child to remain behind and miss the fun?

Based on shot #2 it would appear that Jamie Lee but not Kelly went on the Matterhorn attraction.

Somebody from Janet’s entourage stayed behind to watch Kelly. Jamie Lee is either open-mouthed with glee or terror; not sure which, as I don’t have a follow-up image. These are the things that shape a kid’s future.

Wonder if she channeled this event for the movie “Halloween”?

MORE Janet Leigh at The Red Wagon Inn

Before it became the Plaza Inn, home of the legendary Fried Chicken plate, Disneyland’s Central Plaza restaurant was named The Red Wagon Inn. Janet Leigh’s 1962 visit to Disneyland with the kids included a stop at this Park favorite.

Ever wanted to see a closeup of the original wallpaper?

Here are some MORE recently acquired shots of Janet and the kids enjoying some entertainment by the Dapper Dans while eating their lunch. Future scream-queen Jamie Lee Curtis seems to be enjoying the attention by the Dans:

...as does sister Kelly:

From a 1960 issue of Vacation Magazine one could see this ad for the Red Wagon Inn:

The Return of Janet Leigh!

She’s baaaaaack! Yes, more Janet Leigh at Disneyland shots, circa 1962. Here she comforts daughter Jamie Lee, who was perhaps frightened by some of the animals she saw on the Jungle Cruise attraction.

Waiting for the Nature's Wonderland attraction, rambunctious daughter Kelly brings a smile to Janet's face.

A pensive moment while she picks something out of her teeth and enjoys a cig.

Is this it for Janet Leigh at Disneyland shots? Only time will tell!

Janet Leigh on the Monorail, 1962

Back to 1962 when Janet Leigh was taking the kids to Disneyland. Sporting an angora wrap, I believe Janet and family are at the Disneyland Hotel in this shot. Anyone know the name of the shop they are standing in front of?

They patiently wait for the Monorail to arrive.

In this shot, you can see the sign for the Disneyland Hotel Golf Centre:

The family arrives safely in Tomorrowland, as Janet helps daughter Jamie Lee Curtis off the Monorail.

Angora must have been “in” at the time. Note the two cast members at the left of the image.

First stop in the Park is the Monsanto Hall of Chemistry.

The balloon seller can’t believe he’s looking at a real movie star!!

Last shot shows the family passing by the flag poles with the names of all the states.

Here are Indiana and Louisiana:

More Janet Leigh at Storybook Land

A recently acquired addition to my collection expands my library of 1962 Janet Leigh and family images. Visiting the Park while then-husband Tony Curtis was filming “40 Pounds of Trouble,” today's post shows them on the Storybook Land attraction. First, daughters Jamie Leigh and Kelly Curtis seem to be enjoying the Big Bad Wolf. I wonder if this inspired Jamie Leigh's scream-queen career?

Boarding the attraction:

Look mom, there's Toad Hall!

A closeup:

A contemporary shot of Toad Hall, now in a different location:

Cruising along to Pinocchio's tableau:

A closeup of Gepetto's workshop:

And a contemporary view:

The last shot shows them enjoying Alice's Village:
