Frontierland, September 1960

This is the last of my color-shifted September 1960 images, all of which hail from Frontierland. Presented in chronological order, it would appear that our guest was waiting for the mighty Mark Twain at the dock while snapping these photos that included the thunderous falls of Cascade Peak.



From the boat itself, this shot was taken of the undulating pontoon bridge on Tom Sawyer Island:



followed by this stunning closeup of Cascade Peak; you can almost hear the falls!



As the Twain was floating back to the dock, Rainbow Ridge was captured from above:

And finally, home again at the dock, with the Golden Horseshoe Saloon in the background:



Nothing like a journey on the Twain to start the weekend!

Burly Women Go to Disneyland, September 1957, pt. 3

In the 3rd post of this series, the gals are behind the scenes, frolicking in the park taking photos of the scenery. The photographer in the group obviously had an appreciation for the landscaping as you can see from this photo at the entrance to Adventureland.

Over in Frontierland, a Conestoga Wagon looks likes it’s ready for another trip to Coyote Rock and The Natural Bridge, as seen in the photo that follows. Don’t fault them for the blurriness; you’d have trouble taking photos from this type of transportation, too!

The ladies are rule players too; they know which side of the pontoon bridge to enter on:



They must have been entranced from their view of the Indian Village, as they later returned to catch one of the Ceremonial Dances:

May 1959 in Living Color, Pt. 5

We are journeying on the Rivers of America to see the wonders of the Old West, as well as Tom Sawyer Island. Shot #1 gives us a canoe, Fort Wilderness, and Castle Rock. Instead of Pirate Flags, the Island is displaying good old fashioned patriotism for the U. S. of A. My favorite friendly Indian is giving guests on the Mark Twain a warm welcome.



The waving Indian of today has a much fuller headdress; it only stands to reason that he’d get a promotion after 50 years.



The Indian Village; my follow-up current shot shows the different location of the boy and his dog. Both have changed dramatically, but the concept is the same.





The unsteady pontoon bridges and swaying suspension bridge sure make crossing the River a whole lot more fun! The Chicken Plantation Restaurant is slightly visible in the upper right hand corner.
