Marcia Miner, Disneyland Ambassador

The last time we saw Disneyland Ambassador Marcia Miner at Daveland, she was giving supermodel Twiggy a tour of the park. Today, she is posing along The Rivers of America in this November 1967 photo. From the publicity photo blurb:

PRETTY STATESMAN: Marcia Miner, lovely Disneyland Ambassador, here looking over her kingdom, makes her entertainment world debut when she narrates both on camera and off in “Disneyland – From the Pirates of the Caribbean to the World of Tomorrow,” on “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color,” on NBC-TV, Sunday, June 9, 1968.

Twiggy at Disneyland, April 1967, The Finale

On the last Twiggy post of this series, she is seen entering the small world attraction and eating popsicles like the common folk do, while being given the grand tour by Disneyland Ambassador Marcia Miner. I hope you’ve enjoyed this series with the world’s first supermodel!

Want to see what Twiggy wrote? Duh…

Twiggy at Disneyland, April 1967, Pt. 7

Twiggy embarks on the Grand Circle Tour today, doing a full lap on the Disneyland Railroad. Be sure to look out the window and follow her journey through Main Street, New Orleans Square, Frontierland, and of course, The Grand Canyon Diorama.

The push for Bolt is already underway, as the movie will be released shortly.

Over at the former location of Ariel’s Grotto, guests can now visit Pixie Hollow:

Twiggy at Disneyland, April 1967, Pt. 6

Twiggy is at the Plaza Inn today, and as one would expect from a supermodel, there’s nothing to eat for her. Alternating between happy and pensive, Twiggy looks a little bored overall with the proceedings.

Over at the Castle, Twiggy is hanging out with Goofy and Pluto. It does seem a little strange that Mickey is nowhere to be found in any of these photos.

Twiggy at Disneyland, April 1967, Pt. 4

We’ve still got Twiggy, and today, Disneyland Ambassador Marcia Miner returns as well. Our supermodel is enjoying Fantasyland today, getting tickets like the regular peeps, twirling around in the teacups, and riding the Matterhorn. Yup. Just like the regular peeps. Except with an entourage of burly gorillas keeping the regular peeps away.

Twiggy at Disneyland, April 1967, Pt. 1

Forget Iman. Forget Tyra Banks. And DEFINITELY forget Janice Dickinson. The world’s first supermodel was Twiggy. She splashed onto the scene in 1966 and created a furor with her stick figure, fake eyelashes, and adrogynous look. On top of that, she was talented to boot, transitioning into theater and movie work. On April 27, 1967, she spent the day at Disneyland having footage shot for an upcoming TV special titled "Twiggy: Why?” that would air a few months later in June. Today’s post features a few casual photos of her on Main Street, with Disneyland Ambassador Marcia Miner. The man holding Twiggy’s hand was her current boyfriend and Svengali, Nigel Davies, who reinvented himself as Justin de Villeneuve. The two would split 6 years later in 1973.
