June 25, 1966: Pt. 3

Anyone up for a day at The Sleeping Beauty Castle? Today we see three images of the Castle area in genuine FauxD©, with 2 showing the Snow White Wishing Well portion. You don’t normally see photos of this area because most guests focus intently on Adriana Caselotti’s voice rising magically from the depths of the well. Would somebody please get a paint brush for the lady on the left in this photo? She needs to finish painting her glow-in-the-dark orange pants on...wow! The times they are a-changin’!





Per Chris Jepsen’s request, I am posting a few shots from the Diorama that I took last weekend while we made “The Grand Circle Tour.” It’s true corn, but I love seeing the Grand Canyon/Primeval World show every time I visit the park.

June 25, 1966: Pt. 2

Let’s spend a little time on the Submarine Voyage, back when the entire attraction had more of a military theme. The first few views include details of the fabulous Mermaids...let’s bring ’em back...I’m sure Nemo wouldn’t mind. I believe this was the final summer that the Mermaids graced the lagoon.





Who ever thought there’d be a picture of George Washington with Mermaids?!?

June 25, 1966: Pt. 1

Same photographer, different day. Starting off in Town Square, I have included a detail shot of the sign outside of City Hall.

Moving over to Adventureland, we have a mixed bag of quality for the Treehouse:









I took a ton ’o pics this weekend...we’re talking a ton. I will be posting a bunch this week, so you vintage die-hards will just have to suffer through. This little series shows the new Monorail cruising through the park. I really love the new design, and I am glad that the kinks have finally been ironed out. I rode in both the cone and the regular area (not at the same time though!), and enjoyed both trips.

July 17, 1968: 13th Anniversary, Pt. 7

Sadly, today is our last day showing the July 17, 1968 photos. The first view is an establishing shot, showing the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse in all its artificial glory. The rest of the photos were taken high atop the treehouse, focusing on the Mark Twain and all the other transportation choices available on the Rivers of America.

July 17, 1968: 13th Anniversary, Pt. 5

Our last Town Square shot in the series is a nice view of the Fire Department and the Chemical Wagon. In shot #2, the parade is over, and this mom means business...she’s dragging her daughter out of Main Street and straight to Fantasyland! Please don’t miss the 2 fashion-plates on the left. Wow!



The wild 60’s flower-print dress on the left blends in nicely with all the plastic flora on West Center Street:
