The old Monstro was much more menacing (and interesting).
For some reason (probably to make him less scary) the new imagineers capped his pointy teeth, gave him a lower non-threatening domed head, a lower jaw, and ridiculous giant collagen lips.
Yes, poor Monstro-! His whole 'forehead' has seen more-than just a touch of [not very flattering] "reconstructive surgery" over the years. In fact, one might say the Imagineers were inspired by the young gentleman's "helmet head" from February, 1964-! Although 1964 seems a bit early for such 'hirsute experimentation', it does appear some sort of leather/suede-? band is responsible for those unfortunate results. Although someone needs to be a "trend-setter" - you go, kid-!
