Holidays at Disneyland 1950’s

Here’s another early shot of the park from the 1950’s, and I am assuming from the bells on the windows and random wreaths that it must be near Christmas. This slide still needs some cleanup, but thought I’d post it anyway. Any way to pin down what year this is from? After having just gone to the park last weekend, it still blows me away to see slides like this with virtually nobody around.

See more vintage & current Disneyland entrance photos on my entrance web page.

You can see a Skyway poster, which opened in the summer of 1956....other than that, I can't see any way or dating this slide more specifically.

Speaking of posters....I can identify every poster but one. See the lady in the pink dress, under the "X" and "I" in EXIT? What poster is in front of her? Anybody....?

Hey Major - It's a poster for the Astrojet ride. Here's a link to what it looks like: http://www.phil-sears.com/Folder%202/poster--od43.JPG

Dave- what is the poster to the very far left of the image, right by the entrance tunnel? Can you do a closer scan of it? It almost looks like the Gaucho Goofy poster for the Mickey Mouse Club theater.

I'm having a hard to making anything out on this other poster; I have a close-up, but it doesn't look like anything else I've seen. Let me know if you figure it out.

Dave- Has me stumped as well. Can't make out anything from any poster or advertising I have seen before.

I guess it would have to be the Astrojets, though it looks a bit different. Probably just the color-correction, it makes the lettering look white instead of yellow. As for that other poster, that one is going to drive me crazy!

My best guess on the mystery poster is that since it's away from the main set of attraction posters, it may have just been something for a one-time event. The design that I can see looks pretty random, and doesn't have the same classic style of the other posters.

I agree with Daveland - probably an event poster. Still, I wish I could see it clearer!

I have never seen one, but the white letters on blue seem to say "Viewliner" to me. ... BTW, great blog!
