The Daveland time machine is taking you back to the Summer of 1955 for some 3D images presented in Genuine FauxD©! The Disneyland Band is aboard the Horse-Drawn Streetcar in Central Plaza. Rain must have been a problem that day, as the photographer wrote, “It Aint Gonna Rain No More” Band on Horse Trolley on the back of the slide. Below is the wider panorama view, created by merging the left and right images.

The Sleeping Beauty Castle is positively C-R-O-W-D-E-D!

The wider view:

A closeup view of the cute poodle bag, the retro shades, and of course the ticket book and brochure in the gal’s hand on the right of the image:

In the heart of Fantasyland, we can see that the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship still has a few finishing touches to be added before opening to guests:

The restaurant opened for business on August 29, 1955, putting this batch of images somewhere between mid-July and August.

A closer look at the work crews:

How the ship looked on August 27, 1955, shortly after the restaurant opened:

Still a few more 1955 3D images to come!

This "year one" stuff always fascinates me, mostly the "month one". Scaffolding around things, workers still going at it during operating hours... Honestly there's still a lesson there which applies today. Set a deadline, build as much as you can, open on time and finish it as revenue comes in. You can't always wait for perfection. Like Patton once said, "a good plan today is better than the best plan tomorrow" or words to that effect. I'm just stuck on that poodle skirt. Such a slice of life at that point and time. I appreciate that I went on that ship, but regret I refused tuna fish sandwiches from it because 6 year old me thought they were "yucky". ( They were. )
