Gale Storm was a popular actress known best for starring in the TV show, "My Little Margie" (1952-1955). Here she is with her three boys, Peter, Phillip, and Paul aboard a Disneyland stagecoach. This particular one has a depiction of the Santa Barbara Mission on its door.
I believe these two photos are from the July 17, 1955 opening. Great to see a portion of the original Snow White mural on the left-hand side of this photo:
Gale said that the Autopia was "the greatest ride I ever had!"

Gale Storm and Dallas Raines (an L.A. local weatherman) should get married. Except that she's probably no longer with us.
Maybe I’m missing it but there does not appear to be any kind of safety bar on the SW ride vehicle.
Major - Gale's passing really would put a wrench in your plans.
Ikon - people were smarter back then and were able to be safe on their own.
