Here’s another image from July 1955; the park is open but there’s still construction going on at the Chicken of the Sea: scaffolding, and even a huge crane nearby.

Beautiful photo...I am going to be posting one in which you can see scaffolding (but no crane) on the Pirate Ship....your picture is more exciting though!
Grrrrreat photo. Notice the single color on the ship that was changed in a few months to black trim. I think only a few photos show it, and no cannons in the ports yet either.
