Tom Sawyer Island
This August 1964 slide view of Tom’s Island with Tom sitting on the dock represents what I miss most about the island now that it has been "inhabited" by Pirates: a simple and quiet place to reflect, surrounded by undeveloped acreage and “wilderness.” Although I am sure the new changes will be extremely well done and very entertaining for young and old, it was one of the last places at the park to just breathe without banks of strollers and rude people pushing their way to the front of lines. Enough of my rant. The second slide is an undated Va-Va-Voom from the 1960’s; even the little boy on top of the rock seems caught up in the curves of this voluptuous damsel on Tom Sawyer’s Island!
