More Tomorrowland 1955
Pardon the sporadic posts, but I have been at DLand! Mor on that at some point...meanwhile, here’s a 1955 (undated) BW photo of the Autopia and the same little boy from my last post. Love the mouseears; this kid’s not taking them off for NOTHIN'! Here’s a bonus shot of the little tot on Dumbo; sure hope the ears didn’t fly off as he was soaring over the park in the Flying Elephants.
See more vintage and contemporary Disneyland Tomorrowland photos at my main website.

You can clearly see the hinges for Dumbo's ears (back when they were supposed to move).
In the Autopia photo, it looks pretty wet, and the driver (presumably Dad) is all bundled up. Lucky them, they got the police car!
Actually Major I think the Autopia driver is a cast member (he is wearing a driving helmet after all.) That must have been a treat for the kid to be the Police for the Autopia.
Matterhorn, does that mean that sometimes a cast member did the driving for kids (maybe to prevent crashes)? Or do you think this was just a "photo op"?
Call me crazy but.. I think the Autopia driver is a mannequin used for guest "photo ops". Or maybe it's just the poor screen resolution on my monitor. Anyway I love Daveland. Keep those photos coming.
PV.
Peter - although intriguing, it truly is a live person. BTW: Loved your Christmas Card - very Rankin/Bass looking!
Thanks for stopping by Dave. I'm working on updating the blog more frequently.
