Day @ Disneyland, July 1962, pt. 2
Still in Fantasyland; in fact, we are still stalled in Storybook Land, as I present two more photos for you from this attraction. One at the dock, and the other is a Skyway view that also shows the Fantasyland Depot in the background.
Slide #3 for today shows the chilling and thrilling rapids from the Motor Boat Cruise...hold onto your feathered hats, readers!
Here is a shot of Peter & Pan and the Croc from Disney’s animated classic. This Peter Pan is a bit of a he/she...maybe we should just call this one “Pat.”
We’ve already seen a few shots from the Skyway in this series; now let’s see those retro buckets and have a few more Fantasyland overviews taken from them:
Stay tuned tomorrow as our Skyway buckets take us to Tomorrowland!
On a more serious note, one of my readers has asked me for some info about a strange occurrence that happened at Disneyland. There is an older gentleman that she saw in New Orleans Square; apparently this man claims to have been at the park and at Knotts every other day for the past 7 years and hangs out at the parasol cart near Cafe Orleans. He seems to know the cast members and the portrait artist by name. Our reader’s daughter was approached by this older gentleman who claimed to be "Smile-maker" who likes to give things away. He bought her a large parasol and asked if she wanted her portrait done by one of the artists in the square. The cast-member seemed to know this man so it put the mother at ease. The older man appears to be in his early 70's, suspenders, and no glasses. Is anyone familiar with this guy and know if he’s on the level?

The crocodile in the picture with Peter Pan is very scary. I would think that the little girl would be scared of the costumed character.
The little girl doesn't look like she knows what to think! There's a Tour Guide (and tour group--you can see the tags) behind Pan, too.
I agree with Matternhorn, those are scary. Not as scary as those darn three little pigs Dave has shown before, those still give me nightmares! Thanks for these!
Never seen a shot of the crocodile costume. Very cool.
Neat shot of the rapids on the motor boat cruise. Thanks, Dave. Tell us if you find out what the story is with the old guy in New Orleans Square.
Looks like the Travelocity knome stepped off the rocks at the rapids, and sank up to his hat.
