My Favorite Fantasyland Attraction: Peter Pan’s Flight

With Disneyland, it’s always difficult to pick favorites; each attraction has its own charm and style, making it an almost foolish task to compare. However, when it comes to Fantasyland dark rides, Peter Pan’s Flight wins without any doubt. To fly through the air in a pirate ship over London is one of the most magical experiences that a guest can experience in the park.

I love this shot of Walt, just about to take off by himself, pointing out something to the cast member who has just fastened him into the galleon.

As an added bonus, I have done some Photoshop work and stitched together a number of photos to be able to recreate the mural that is in the entrance queue for this attraction; be sure to scroll to the right, as these suckers are purty large!

These two vintage views show the mural as it was originally seen before the 1983 Fantasyland overhaul:

  1. GREAT post and great job on those murals! I agree with you about Peter Pan. Whenever I ride it, I'm 10 years old again.

  2. Ditto on Murals - WOW!!!

I wonder what Walt's comments were after the ride?

  5. Thank you Dave...The murals great and wonderful to view larger in size. The nighttime flight over London with the stars twinkling. I remember the galleon would dip to give you the true feeling of lifting off into flight as we all headed to Never Land. :-)

"I have a place where dreams are born,
    And time is never planned.
    It's not on any chart,
You must find it with your heart.
    Never Never Land."

  6. "Come on everbody, here we gooooooooo!" Always a favorite of mine, but I never want to wait in that line! WDW has Fast Pass for their Peter Pan (I believe DL Paris does too.) I wonder if Anaheim has ever considered doing the same?

  7. I love to fly over London in Peter Pan but I think my favorite Fantasyland ride is Pinocchio. It is downright scary and l love all the clocks at the end.

  8. This is my favorite ride, too.

I was in London last summer for the first (and possibly only) time. We rode the London Eye at night, and the entire time I thought "this is just like the Peter Pan ride, but it's the real thing!"
