Disneyland Rarities, Pt. 2

Ready for a little shopping? Plenty to choose from in Fantasyland, from model cars to darling dollies! I am assuming these are interior views of Tinkerbell’s Toy Shop.

See more Disneyland Fantasyland photos at my main website.

  1. WOW- I want everything in that window (not the Doll window!) Hey, is that a giant Troll to the far right in photo #1?

Those are some of the coolest metal cars & trucks I've ever seen, got to be worth a small (or medium) fortune today!

Do you have a year on these? Trolls came out in 1963 and those cars all look 62 and prior...

    Awesome post - THANKS!

  2. Fantastic shot of the Corgi cars!!! I didn't even know Disneyland sold them! Yep, they're worth some real bucks today (especially the rocket launchers and the circus stuff- actually, even the catalogs on the left are worth a bunch!) I have a few from my childhood (from about the same era as these) but they are pretty "played with."
    Thanks, Dave!!!

P.S. My verification word is "cryin" as in "I'm cryin' because I don't have more Corgis!

  3. Tim - Those do appear to be trolls! I don't have a year for any of this batch (which continues tomorrow!), but early 60's does seem correct.

  4. I remember purchasing Matchbox cars and Britians Knights at the Tinkerbell Toy Shop in the 1970s. I wish they still carried classic toys in the toy shop.

  5. I never much cared for the toy shop as a kid, too pedestrian for me....but the magic shop is where I went bananas!

  6. Ok, I did some research. The Circus Crane truck was released in 1960, as was the Bluebird speed trial car (bottom row). However, the Circus Animal Cage and teh Heinkel T (the little red "bubble car" on teh top row) were not released until 1962. I can't find any cars in the picture that were released after that date, so our picture must be in 1962...

  7. Oops, I forgot about the trolls...so early '63 may be a better date...

By the way, the Bloodhound missiles came out in 1958 and the "Rocket Age" gift set came out in '59...

  9. These toys stand at "the dawn of memory" for me... maybe three years old, but I do remember having them, and then completely abandoning them when Hot Wheels came out about 1966.

On the bottom of the car shelf, third from right, is an army green Triumph. That was our "Sunday" car that we took to Disneyland at the time this photo was taken.

  10. Ha ha, all the boys love the Corgi cars! (Connie does too, which makes her cool). That rocket launcher is awesome, my folks would have NEVER bought that for me. Years later I did have a Batmobile and the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car (thanks to grandparents). Never had the Yellow Submarine, although I wanted it! All of those would be worth a small fortune - if I still had them.

    (Verification word is "undies"?!?)

  11. Oh yeah, I had the Green Hornet car too - the "Black Beauty", with its neat green headlights.

  12. Yeah Major, I had (and still have, although they are in sad shape) The Green Hornet, The Batmobile, The Monkeemobile, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and James Bond's DB-5. I never had the Yellow Submarine either. I REALLY wish I had taken better care of them!!!!

Seconding the Corgi love. I'm happy to say that over the years, I've been able to get all six of the Corgi's my folks didn't (or couldn't) get me as a kid. Thanks to reissues, I've got the Monkeemobile, the Black Beauty, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the Bond DB-5 (several versions), the Yellow Submarine, and the TV show Batmobile. All brand-new, in their lovely reissue boxes. Might still be available on eBay.

  15. Hm some kind of display for Snow White is off to the left, 2nd pic. Top pic I see an early 60s T-Bird, three 50s Jaguars (Jagui?) and that tractor with plow is real cute. :)

  16. I bought some really detailed sailboats at the Tinkerbell Toy Shop in 1980. They had canvas sails and were perfect in the pool.

Sure wish I hadn't lost track of where they went.

Much preferred the old Shop to what's there now...
