Welcome to Depp-Land!
Let’s start counting...you saw him first on the wall of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” attraction at Disneyland (thanks for the reminder, Connie!)...and you saw him at The Costurera...
followed by his surprise appearance popping out of a barrel:
Next he was shown in a treasure room at the end of the POTC attraction:
But that was only the beginning...Johnny Depp’s characterization of Jack Sparrow wandered the streets of New Orleans Square:
posed for pictures on Tom Sawyer's Island:
...and engaged in some thrilling swordplay on the Rivers of America:
It shouldn't come as any surprise that the runaway hit of Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” has gotten Imagineers to begin testing 2 Johnny Depp-inspired audio animatronic figures for the Fantasyland Dark Ride:
Who knows where he'll turn up next at Disneyland:
What are your thoughts on this?
See more Disneyland photos at my regular website.
I'm going to Deppyland!
ReplyDeleteThoughts? I know what you're up to (wink wink)
ReplyDeleteDepp-land - LOL, time to retire that realm!
ReplyDeleteOk, after seeing Tim's Alice I had a nightmare that this might might happen to the attraction - Off with his head!!!!!
I actually liked his character in "Alice", but don't even joke about him being added to the attraction at Disneyland!
ReplyDeleteI think the only one that works is the addition of the character to the control booth.
ReplyDeleteWould this be an April Fools Joke? :)
ReplyDeleteIt's almost too close to the truth! I had the same fears as VDT. If the movie was a monster hit, I could see them actually converting the whole Alice attraction.....which I hope they would NEVER do. But I LOVE your pics, Dave...especially the one of Depp on top of the mushroom outside. And I still remember your "Marilyn-land" pics from last year! Happy April Fool's Day!
ReplyDeleteWell......sometimes I don't like it when they "mess" with stuff - but I actually love his addition(s) to Pirates of The Caribbean. I think they fit in very well, and I enjoy seeing them every time.
ReplyDeleteAlice In Wonderland, though?
I don't think so......
You missed one! Just as you enter the attraction, there is a new "old" painting of Captain Jack on the wall!
ReplyDeleteConnie - thanks for the reminder; I have now rectified the goof! Heidi - I don't mind the Sparrow changes to Pirates other than the final scene which I've commented on previously as looking a little out of place. However, I was disappointed to see Blackbeard removed. Ironically, I see Blackbeard will be part of "POTC 4"; will his return to the attraction be next??
ReplyDeleteIf they want to add a Depp AA to the Alice ride, I would demand that they also add a James Baskett as Uncle Remus AA to Splash Mountain. It's only fair.
ReplyDeleteI get the additions of Pirates of the Caribbean (speaking of there's a funny video of Depp walking through and being a little freaked about real the animatronic Depp is). But adding Depp to the Alice in Wonderland ride doesn't work for me. They seem to like to keep the cartoon and live action thing separate. Otherwise we would see the Depp version of the Mad Hatter walking around instead of the cartoon one.
