You Are There: Disneyland December 1961, Pt. 3

All aboard for a trip below the beautiful briny sea! Looks like our vessel MIGHT be the Triton. Here are a few shots of what you will see through your porthole windows:

Hope you enjoyed this three-part series showing how the park looked in December 1961.

Back to present days, here are a few shots of my most recent trip, focusing on one of my favorite areas, New Orleans Square. Love the theming as we pull into the station there:

Tiana is back with a musical celebration near the French Market:

And a few from The Blue Bayou:

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR DEPT.: Knotts fanatic, theme park designer extraordinaire, and author Chris Merritt just told me that the fantabulous event at Knotts Berry Farm on 4/18 has yet to sell out. WHAT???? At only $55, this one is a no-brainer!

Here are some of the activities available:

* Historical walking tours of Ghost Town
* Historical walking tours of Grand Avenue
* Sales and signing of Knott’s Preserved (pre-orders available)
* Multimedia lecture on early Knott’s history in the Bird Cage Theatre
* Group buffet dinner in the Chicken Dinner Restaurant
* A panel discussion with former Knott’s designers in the Bird Cage Theatre

See more Disneyland photos at my regular website.

  1. Fantastic Blue Bayou restaurant pics! Cute NOS details too.

Boy the sea life in that lagoon was sure crabby! Even the lobsters.

  7. Great shots of the train station. I have a question for you. It seems to me that there is a bit of that train station in Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. Check out the "Two Brothers" section. What do you think?

  8. Momma Nic - You are correct; the New Orleans Train Station/Depot is used in the Great Moments film during the "Two Brothers" segment. One of these days I will try to get a shot of that!

  9. Thanks for the reality check. I thought I was going crazy. Its a wonder what you see, when you have an annual pass huh. Keep up the great work. Also do you have any panoramic photos of the Park that were taken with the disposable cameras? Next time I come across them I can email them to you if you'd like.

  10. I don't have any of those panoramic photos; however, I do remember the disposable cameras that were made for that. If I remember correctly, the results were fairly grainy/blurry. But it would be great to see them, especially if they offer vintage views!

  11. I took a panoramic camera to the park just once and used it mostly to take photos of Tomorrowland before it was destroyed in it's 1998 redo. They're on my list of things to post!
