Disneyland in Focus: Carousel of Progress, Pt. 8
Now we come to the controversial part of the show in Orlando for the Carousel of Progress. The final scene has been changed over the years, and sparked a lot of heated debate because it deviates from Walt’s original. Here are some pics for you to take a gander at.
Did Woody Allen pose for this one?
More change: and dig the crazy computer!
Things are not always what they appear to be; here are some behind-the-scene shots (again, I’m feeling very Stepford here!):
Cousin Orville looks positively scary from this angle!
Let’s not forget to say thanks to our sponsor for today’s post:
For those of you who have had your fill of this series, you may now breathe a sigh of relief...it has come to a conclusion.

Thanks for the incredible series Dave! I feel like I really know this attraction now.
ReplyDeleteHey, the behind the scenes shot of grandpa in the bath tub looks like a scene from Dawn of the Dead!
Those are some awesome shots... they are so dated and odd looking, even though they are supposed to be "the future". Father wants everyone to know that he won first prize, while Mother looks like Edith Prickly. Grandpa just looks bewildered. Dig that computer, the monitor is about two feet deep and probably weighs 70 pounds.
ReplyDeleteLove that groovy 70's macrame wall hanging in the first pic. Okay, not to beat a dead horse, but does anyone know why the son appears to be all grown up in the final scene? And why did they get rid of the little girl halfway through the attraction???
ReplyDeleteA truly wonderful series Dave....thank you so much!
Dave, I love the freaky behind the scenes shots, thank you!! Those were especially nice. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how lifelike the male figures look as opposed to the mannequin looking females.
Excellent series!
