Here’s our favorite Spaceman, K7, most likely sweating like a pig in his mod-looking spacesuit. Even those shade circles probably don’t help much. The poor little tot in the stroller doesn’t quite know what to make of him. Most likely, this one is from 55/56. I've also thrown in this Astrojets shot just for good measure. The old-fashioned train in the background provides somewhat of an interesting juxtaposition between the Astrojets & the Skyway. I believe that's the Yacht Bar on the left.
THIS JUST IN! I forgot my promise last night to add this closeup shot of the mystery area in Fantasyland. Anybody know what this is?

Yup, that's the Motor Boat Cruise. Dry as a bone. Must be under rehab.
ReplyDeleteHi Dave, Awesome pics, These Tomorrow land shots just make me week in the knees! Is that really the Motor boat area in the blown up pic? I saw that in yesterdays post and thought "what could that be in that spot"...
ReplyDeleteKeep the GREAT pics comming, each day brings us new and exciting stuff! You are the BEST! Tim
Errr anonymous, the Motor Boat Curise did not open until 1959 so it is not under rehab, but actually under construction. Prior to that, it was just a series of scenic water with no ride.
ReplyDeleteSorry Matterhorn, but the Motor Boat Cruise was there in 1958. Take a look at the original 1958 Sam McKim souvenir wall map for proof. Many reference books like to lump it with the opening of the 1959 Matterhorn area addition because of the changes made - that's not quite right, however.
ReplyDeleteMatterhorn please check page 11 of the 1958 Pictorial Guide Book. It shows the motor boats with happy pilots winding through the rapids.
