Dancing in Grand Central Station

I was slightly apprehensive when Julius Rubio (one of the ensemble dancers from "The Greatest Showman") suggested we shoot in Grand Central Station. The name of that building always represented complete chaos to me, which is not exactly how I like to work. Still, the idea intrigued me.

Beautiful architecture, plenty of details...

Zodiac murals, historic light fixtures...

OK, I'm game. Let's give it a try.

One should always warm up first to avoid injury.

The pose...

and then the leap.

I cropped out the mess of gawkers. This is not something you typically see here as people rush to catch their trains.

Today celebrates the 12 year anniversary of when I first started this blog. That's a lot of gray hair and wrinkles. Thanks to all who have enjoyed the journey with me.

  1. You guys are brave to head into a working transit facility. Kudos to you both, and congrats on 12 years. I cannot believe it's been that long.

  4. WOW! Agree with @Fithrider. You shot photography in a working transportation hub in Los Angeles... Cool (and very brave)! Did any of the Gawkers add to the photo? I would think it would be intersting if you kept a small group as an audience. BUT you know best for sure!

Holy smokes my friend... 12 years??!!! Where does the time go? Thank You Dave for 12 amazing, fun filled, years of laughs, tears, joys, adventures, and beautiful art! Don't grow weary of well doing... and great photography!

  5. And thanks to the four of you....I can always count on hearing from this quartet that has helped keep me going. Matthew - that was in NYC, not LA! There were a few gawkers that looked....but nobody really stopped and stared. It's New York, for pete's sake! Ha!

A day late, but congratulations, Dave, for 12 years of superb work! Your site is a true treasure, both for the armchair Disneyland historian as well as the Shirley fan and anyone who enjoys fine photography.

Thanks again for your hard work and your willingness to share with the rest of us. I know this costs you a significant something in both time and money, and the rest of us really appreciate it.

  7. Good point about stopping and staring in New York City. Ha is right! Oh for heaven's sake... why didn't I pick up on the fact that it was NYC not LA. I have to read more carefully in the future. And couldn't agree more with @Chuck!
