What happens when you take two consecutively shot 1959 badly faded vintage slides and spend some time cleaning them up digitally?
You get an amazing panorama view of Disneyland's Town Square circa 1959.
Here are a few juicy details from these images, beginning with the Fire Department/Walt's Apartment and Bekins Storage:
In this view, you can see the banner heralding all of the new attractions for 1959 as well as the Skyway in the background.
And a recent shot of Town Square for comparison:

I miss the old Bekins Storage building. Nice job on the panorama. Thanks, Dave.
ReplyDeleteExcellent restoration job, Dave!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy panoramas like this. Aside from the broader perspective that they provide, I also enjoy going through the "Where's Waldo?" exercise of finding people who are in both shots. The only doppelgangers I can find today are the family posing in front of the Bekins van as they enter the westernmost doors of the Emporium. As I always do, I wonder what became of that photo?
I'm curious when the shots were taken because it looks like nothing has been done regarding the Matterhorn. Maybe the "Disneyland '59" banner was up for a year, or so, to promote the things a-comin'.
ReplyDeleteOMG, Dave! That restoration job you did is magnificent!
ReplyDeleteSplendid work, makes my day.
