In this July 1961 you see the Horseless Carriage at Central Plaza; this fringed vehicle was last seen on this blog as a photo ops for Walt and his lovely wife, Lillian.
Here's the Snow White Wishing Well, barely a few months old:
Back in the day, Dopey once carried a fishing pole.
Today he just imitates The Fonz.
A vintage closeup of Snow White:
More vintage Disneyland photos at my
main website.
Love the first Horseless Carriage shot. Nothing like taking a ride aboard a beautiful Gurrmobile on Main Street.
ReplyDeleteClose up, those statues don't look so hot. Some things are better off in the distance. Thanks, Dave.
The statues currently on display are resin replicas of the originals, which are now kept at Imagineering in Glendale. I wonder if they look better in a side-by-side comparison.
ReplyDeleteChuck, I wondered too if the original statues look better close up than the replicas. I'd imagine they would.
ReplyDeleteAll Snow White's Grotto sculptures questions (well, most of them anyway!) can be answered here: http://filmic-light.blogspot.com/2013/04/snow-whites-grotto-sculptures.html
ReplyDeleteYou can run into Maleficent there if you're lucky.
ReplyDeleteSpent many memorable moments there in the past 59 years.
