The Final Frontier

Tomorrowland at Disneyland has been an embarrassment for years with the Disney Corporation. Walt's incredible 1967 version was a landmark in futuristic thinking and problem-solving for the next generation. Today, it is a mishmash of attractions that are neither innovative or thought provoking. So, for today, we will look back to a time when guests could marvel about that "Final Frontier" and all of the exciting possibilities that it might hold. The first image shows two excited young gents in their best western wear meeting the Spaceman of Tomorrowland. What a thrill!

This tall drink of water surely gave this female guest an extra thrill.

Giving the girls their fair shake today, here is a Vietnam Soldier posing with the Tomrorowland Spacegirl.

Travel back to the future with more Spaceman/girl photos at my main website.

  1. The first image is a winner! It captures perfectly what the "lands" of Disneyland were born from: 1950's America' fascination with westerns and space programs. Thanks, Dave!

Can't agree more about status of Tomorrowland these days compared to the prior version. They could do better...much better.

  4. How I wish I could find that serviceman and share this photo with him. God willing, he made it home safe to his family. This photo just touches my heartstrings. He is a reminder of my brother and all of his buddies who headed off to Vietnam ... just a bunch of high school friends.

  5. Wow, that first photo is so fantastic. The color! The kids in their cowboy hats! The whole thing is just amazing. I agree with PWover50, I hope that the soldier made it home. Man, is he skinny. I always love seen beautiful "Luna-Lana" (as Tim from Vintage Disneyland Tickets called her once).
