Meet Betty (real name). According to the urban dictionary, she truly is a betty, which means "hot chick." She is rocking that orange ball of fluff in this May 1963 photo. Is it a purse? Is it a hand warmer? Or is it a tribble from the Star Trek set? Only Betty knows. House of the what? Who would notice the background when Betty is in the photo.
Here she is again in front of the entrance to Skull Rock Cove.
Signage, Betty, and a Tribble. It's going to be a good day.
More Betty…I mean vintage Disneyland photos at my
main website.
Looks like Betty's orange fluff is a hat. She's also holding a 1962 "Walt Disney's Guide to Disneyland" pictorial souvenir booklet in her hand.
ReplyDeleteLove the volcanic benches that surrounded Skull Rock Lagoon. Disney really went for those in the early 1960's as the Enchanted Tiki Room's Tiki Garden has them too. Glad to see they survived in the Tiki Garden. Thanks, Dave.
I think K. Martinez is right... its a fluffy hat!
ReplyDeleteYes - I remember those hats. They were made of feathers. I want one!
ReplyDeleteHuba-huba. What a great shot of Betty. Great photo of the exit sign too. I love how the "agers & grainers" really got the look and feel of the sign post being rotted and covered with algae. Also love how the sign itself is the side of either a wooden treasure chest or box. Either way, great photo! Only wish the photographer could have captured the small water fall on the other side of the walkway in that 3rd shot. Those are the details I liked/like when visiting the park.
