Mickey's Halloween Party, Pt. 1

It was a little weird being back at Disneyland after a 6 month absence. Hard to believe it has been that long since my last visit, but also kind of nice to have a little bit of a break. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder! Anastasia B. & I decided to go in costume this year for Mickey's Halloween Party. She chose a sassy Queen of Hearts, and I picked 1966 Robin. Just one of those things on my bucket list.

Neither one of us had eaten lunch that day, so the first order of business was a fried chicken dinner at the Plaza Inn. We were not disappointed by the golden fried goodness that was heaped upon the plate. We skipped dessert though, knowing there would be other sugar-laden treats throughout the night.

The Plaza Inn looked great; still a dining favorite at the Park.

Have you ever noticed the initials in the valance?

Our first attraction was Buzz Lightyear. Although I rarely beat AB's score, I still have fun riding it.

I am typically too busy attempting to score points to take photos.

My somewhat lame score.

Note the concentration.

Outside, the Monsters University Dance Party was rocking' Tomorrowland.

The Subs were back in action, although we decided not to ride them.

The lagoon sure looks great at night.

Across the way the Matterhorn looked beautiful, too. It's all about the lighting!

Come back tomorrow for some Dark Ride fun!

  1. I used to go to Disneyland every year and then some for a period of 40+ years(1963-2005). After the 50th Anniversary, I decided to give Disneyland a good long rest. Since then I've only been back once in 2012. It was Buena Vista Street and Cars Land that drew me back. I really enjoyed my four-day visit to the resort, but look at Disneyland with a different eye now.

Your interior photography is getting better all the time. I love the "Little Green Men" image.

Speaking of Buzz Lighytear Astro Blasters, have you ever tried to photograph Toy Story Mania (interior)?

BTW, Did you run into the Batman while at the resort?

  4. Ken - Here are my Toy Story Mania photos: http://davelandweb.com/toystorymania/

Yes - there were quite a few Batmans, including one that was actually the 1966 version. Even saw 2 Batgirls, but none compared to Yvonne Craig.

    Thanks Stu!

Connie - hope you are well - have missed seeing you!

  5. The photo of the Matterhorn is a beauty, I always love the way it looks at night with the caves glowing softly.

  6. Thanks for the link, Dave. Don't know why I didn't think to look through your archive before asking.

WOW!!! Those Toy Story Mania photos are friggin' awesome! Not only are they clear and colorful, but they give a sense of the layout and good depth. Your work is amazing!

  7. Looks like you had a great time! We were there that morning as part of a 3 day trip. I just love all the fresh paint being thrown everywhere for the upcoming 60th.
