More Cast Members Behind-The-Scenes
A few more "behind-the-scenes" shots from 1981/1982; I use the quote marks because these are obviously staged publicity shots, with most looking just-right and perfectly composed. I think I prefer the loosey-goosey impromptu cast member shots!
Still, looking at the outdated computer equipment is sort of fun!
Feel free to identify any of these folks!
Naturally, the "smile" poster in the background is an integral part of this photo's staged composition.
The token shot of a laborer.
I wonder if this gal was on duty during Yippie Day. Naw...probably too young.
Here we have Sara, John, and Pat. That's about all I can tell you about this trio. Other than that they are probably the life of the party.
My favorite shot of the bunch. Staged or not, it's cool to see one of the stretch portraits in progress.
To spice it up a bit, I'll throw in two photos that reader Bill H. submitted, showing a cast member marathon from April 1984, years before the official half marathon event ever took place.
This guy appears to be winning by leaps and bounds!

The draftsman is using a Bruning electric eraser, just like mine. It's cool he has two types. Probably for different kinds of erasers.
ReplyDeleteThe Disney Smile! Like a lovely spring day in Stepford.
ReplyDeleteA special thanks to Bill H. for sharing his Disneyland photos on both past and present Daveland blog posts.
@CoxPilot, I noticed that about the erasers. I have an old metal Bruning just like he is holding.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen the beige model before. Pretty sure you are correct, one eraser core (White) for ink on that mylar sheet, another (pink) for pencil on paper.
The slogan (before AutoCAD) was "Never draw more in the morning than you can erase in the afternoon".
Now with CAD, of course, erasure is instantaneous (and sometimes permanent).
Great shot of the drafting board, old school for sure, like I learned on. Lots of history there and now-antique tools and skills.
Too bad I can't make out the calendar behind him, it would be fun to know the month and year, at least.
I don't recognize anyone in these pics, tho... thought for a moment I thought would see my old boss when he worked for Disney.

A few years after I left, but it brings me back nonetheless. Nice shots...staged or otherwise, it's what I remember of most CMs working there at the time. We truly enjoyed the opportunity to work there. KS
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure that the "computer" in the second photo is a microfiche viewer.
ReplyDeleteMajor: I was going to say that about the microfiche. We had one just like it at work.
