In my opinion, this October 1963 image needs no companion. Five lovely young ladies wearing fashion that is so very "Mad Men," sitting on a bench in front of City Hall in Disneyland's Town Square. Behind them is a very simple hand-lettered sign proclaiming the highlights of the park that guests could enjoy.
I wonder if they all worked together, in a Madison Avenue Agency perhaps..out West on holiday. Could Don Draper be the one behind the camera?

I never heard of the Yachtsmen Quartet location referred to as the "Tomorrowland Pylon". I learn something new from time to time reading this blog. I love it. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteI think I recognize Miss Blankenship.
ReplyDelete^LOL at Ms. Blankenship!
ReplyDeleteI loved the "Tomorrowland" episode of Mad Men where they plan out their trip into Disneyland but hated that you never get to see it (for obvious reasons)! The scene where they're sitting in the hotel room planning out which attractions to see is great.
Take some good vintage pictures for us ladies!!
Notice they are all wearing a yellow Tour Guide Triangle™. I wonder if they just finished, or are about to to begin, their guided tour of Disneyland. Either way, this post has been my pleasure.
