Traveling Thursdays: Vintage Knotts

The family that visited Hollywood also stopped by Knott's Berry Farm. Again, I believe these are either 1954 or 1955 images.

This shot is okay, but...

Zooming in on the old gent makes for a very cool shot all by itself.

If you can't win the lottery, how about shelling out a quarter to pan for some gold?

I am in signage heaven! Hand done, too!

A quarter also gets you some assistance from the Miner on location.

I believe the gal in the middle is sucking on a lemon, getting ready to do tequila shots with her friends.

"Live" music at the Wagon Camp!

  1. Wow Dave, those are some real beauties! Fantastic color. I especially love the one with the crowd of guests waiting (for their chicken dinners?)!

I remember that 25 cent price to pan for gold (still have the gold and vial)...and enjoying the music while sitting in a wagon. Those seats went first!

Well ya gotta love in the first photo, Dad with his cigarette butt smoldering six inches away from his toddler daughter's face. Real class.

You don't see that at Disneyland anymore, I'm glad to say.

  4. Great photos, Dave!

The "Indian" in the first photo is James “Osapana” Whiteman -- an interesting guy on at least a couple counts.

The old bearded "miner" in the red shirt is Ed Strous, another fixture at the Farm in the 1950s.
