Get ready to board your Skyway bucket as the Encyclopaedia Britannica takes us on a cruise high above Tomorrowland.
In the background of this shot, we can see the circus tent left over from the short-lived Mickey Mouse Club Circus:
The Flight Circle is shown here; too early for Cox Pilot!

If you squint, you can see a scaffolding and workman painting the Flight Circle. Maybe they are getting ready for the new Cox company to take over.
ReplyDeleteI would not have noticed that scaffolding, cool detail!
ReplyDeleteThat area of Tomorrowland was well designed. Attention is focused toward the Flight Circle but comfortably, the surroundings look sharp and of course, there's the backdrop of the big ol' rocket to put that sense of excitement in mind. So while the budget was relatively limited they sure did a fine job with what they had.
ReplyDeleteThat 2nd pic's neat too. And away we goooo
The big gate to the circle is open, the trash container is out in the middle of the walk way and there is a ladder just in front of the scaffolding too. Every year, just before the summer season, they would slurry the circle in it's many colors. There was also a pump system (like a swimming pool) to keep the boat pond clean, and they would service that. I really loved the smell of the new slurry combined with the waves of compressed air from the astro jets and the TWA moon ride that would waft over Tomorrowland. That smell sometimes happens in a newly surfaced parking lot, and takes me back to those early days like a time machine.
