This week we see the construction of “New” Tomorrowland, circa 1967. Pretty much a scrape and burn, we can see the addition of the Carousel of Progress as well as The PeopleMovers. In the following amateur shots from April 26, 1967, we can see the construction walls in Central Plaza:
And surprisingly enough, even at this late stage of the game, The Monsanto House of the Future is still standing:
This shot shows you all of the sponsors that have claimed their advertising spot on this section of the construction wall, including Monsanto and GE:

Great shots of the construction walls, never seen shots like that before.
ReplyDeleteIn the black & white photo, its interesting how there are some PeopleMover cars on the track yet the load station is nowhere near complete. Did they put them up there to get folks attention? It got mine! Thanks Dave!
Great pics Dave. The first picture is truly amazing.
ReplyDeleteCOOOOOOOOL!
ReplyDeleteVewwy cool. It always amazes me how the controlled disaster area of construction produces those beautiful finished results. It's neat to see these but boy I think I would've been bugged to find that scene if I'd gone to DL right then -
ReplyDeleteMe: "Where's Tomorrowland!?"
Worker: "Tomorrow."
Fantastic construction shots of my favorite land....and my favorite version of that land! That first shot is truly wonderful. We can even see the big hole in the ground where the Tomorrowland Terrace Stage would be "popping up." Thanks for sharing these, Dave!
ReplyDeleteWow! Really interesting shots...
ReplyDeleteDave - can you drop me an email? I seem to have lost yours in my laptop meltdown...
Thanks!
Even construction walls were more fun in the 60s. With colors like these, you KNOW something great is coming!
ReplyDeleteAmazing shot of New Tomorrowland under construction! Thanks for sharing!
